get involved

There are many ways to get involved in what we do. From the annual Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer event, to attending one of our many other fundraising efforts throughout the year. Events such as hot dog sales, pancake breakfasts, raffles and more have successfully raised over $550,000 since 1998.

You can register or donate online at http://convio.cancer.ca/goto/closecuts2011.

All pledges collected by participants in the Close Cuts for Cancer event are designated to cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society. All other monies raised by hot dog/hamburger sales, pancake breakfasts, anonymous donations, silver collections, merchandise sales, etc) fund the Local Cancer Initiatives which supports those in Yorkton and the surrounding area who are presently living with cancer.

The LCI program funds different programs each year, as the needs present themselves. In 2009, the designated recipient was the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge and in 2010 funds went toward Palliative Care Equipment through the Health Foundation.

At the end of 2010, Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer Local Initiatives made a donation of $6,696 to to the Health Foundation to purchase a Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) pain medication infusion pump. Click Here For News Release
